Attenborough Arts Centre gears for reopening

Gallery Three with chairs and tables

After nearly 180 days closed, Attenborough Arts Centre is excited to be reopening our doors for University of Leicester Welcome Week.

After hours, days and weeks of hard work put in by our team, we have exciting programmes across both our creative courses and performance departments, not only that, we’ve also launched our brand new website in time for the new academic year. Not only that, lots of time has gone into making AAC a safe place, having worked closely with the University of Leicester and local authorities to abide by every recommendation and regulation to remain safe during the pandemic. So, what do we have going on?

We have a jam-packed Welcome Week planned to introduce new and returning Leicester students to everything that the Attenborough Arts Centre has to offer. We’ve collaborated with the Students’ Union to promote our activities and are excited to have our student body back in the building. We have our ever-popular Wildcard Wednesday’s returning, giving students a chance to try something new. Students will also be able to try their hands at life drawing and, new for Welcome Week, you can relax with a session of Yoga led by Sarah Carter. Not only that, but you can also book a slot to view our gallery exhibition and experience the wonder of Mariner 9 as you traverse a deserted Martian landscape. You can find our full Welcome Week offering here.

Also, our creative programme has been designed to allow as many people as possible to access. With vulnerable people still unable to attend every creative session and others still wary of public spaces, our programme is a mix of online courses and streamed classes to access from home, meaning that for the first time ever some of our expansive and enjoyable courses can now be accessed from anywhere in the world. You can check availability and book tickets here.

We are excited to reopen to University of Leicester students and hope to be able to totally open to the public again soon.
