Spring Craft & Art Fair supports local artists and crafters

On Saturday 3 May we welcomed in over 550 visitors to our bi-annual Craft & Art Fair to explore the work of local crafters and artists as they presented their incredible work.
A highlight in our programme, the fair hosts over 50 selected exhibitors ranging from ceramics, glass, textiles, homeware, jewellery, accessories, wood, painting, printmaking and more – there was something for everyone! Our galleries were open all day to explore the exhibitions ‘Crip Arte Spazio: The Disability Arts Movement in Venice’ and ‘The Empire’s Old Clothes’ by whatsthebigmistry, while our café and outside deli offered warm food and drinks for everyone.
Many crafters and visitors gave wonderful feedback about the quality of the talent on offer and the incredible opportunity it provides to bring crafters work to new audiences. We truly believe in supporting local crafts and arts within our communities, which is what makes hosting the Craft and Arts Fair every year such a delight.

The Fair also featured the sale of work from the late Alan Caine who passed away in 2023. With Eleanor Hartley, working alongside Sir Richard Attenborough, Alan helped conceive, fund, design and launch the Attenborough Centre for Disability and the Arts, now Attenborough Arts Centre, in 1997. Alan’s estate has very kindly donated his work for sale to help raise essential funds for Attenborough Arts Centre. All donations will help us to continue to ensure everyone can access the arts, and fund some very much needed equipment to help disabled children, young people and adults enjoy their creative journey in our spaces. All of his artwork was sold as pay-what-you-can and many visitors got to take home a unique piece of art from Alan’s collection.
Our next Craft & Art Fair will take place on Saturday 1 November, perfect to get in all those holiday presents. Tickets are already available for purchase if you want to ensure your place at our next fair.
