SUMMARY:Punch Needle Textured Wall Art
DESCRIPTION:Explore the versatility of the humble punch needle tool to create a piece of 6” wall art full of texture and interest.  \nThis is a great opportunity to let your creativity flow and make a piece that develops as you punch. If you prefer more guidance however\, tutor Caroline will be on hand to help with your design. All materials and tools will be provided for you but if you have any specific yarn (any weight)\, a favourite punch needle (suitable for chunky yarn) or any embellishments you’d like to use then please bring them along! \nAt the start of the day you’ll stretch your fabric in a practice piece before the larger hoop. Then you’ll be shown how to create different textures\, such as tufting\, long strands\, adding embellishments and varying stitch length\, and have a practise in your practice hoop. You will then move onto the large hoop to work on your final design\, which will finally be mounted in a wooden hoop. \nThis will be a relaxed\, creative day where not only will you produce a piece of wonderfully textured art\, you will enjoy the therapeutic benefits that punch needle brings. \nPlease note: there may at times be small yarn fibres in the air so please do bring a face covering if you feel this may affect you. \n  \nAbout the tutor:\nTutor Caroline Colam is an experienced teacher who has been teaching punch needle for several years. She creates a wide range of fabulously bright and colourful punch needle pieces and is as passionate about the therapeutic process as the finished result. Caroline is also a freelance punch needle designer/maker for Hobbycraft\, writing tutorials for the Ideas Hub on their website. \n  \nFurther information:\nAll materials will be provided. \nThis one-day workshop will start at 10.00am and end at 4.00pm\, including a short break for lunch. Our café will be open or you are welcome to bring your own refreshments. \nParticipants must be aged 14+. Under 18s must be accompanied by a paying adult at all times. \nPlease ensure that you agree to our updated Terms & Conditions before booking as courses/workshops are non-refundable if cancelled within 21 days of the start date for any reason. \nIf the course/workshop you’d like to book is sold out\, we do operate a waiting list – simply contact our box office team on 0116 252 2455 / arts-centre@le.ac.uk and ask to be added to the waiting list. We’ll then contact you if a place becomes available\, with absolutely no obligation to accept it if you’ve made other plans! \nWe aim to make all our sessions as accessible as possible and carers/PAs are very welcome – just remember to book their free place when you book your session. Email arts-centre@le.ac.uk\, pop in or call 0116 252 2455\, open 7 days a week. \nWe have four blue badge parking spaces outside Attenborough Arts Centre\, plus double yellow line roadside parking very close to the building for blue badge holders for up to three hours if our parking spaces are occupied. \nFree parking for all customers is available after 5pm on weekdays and all day at weekends in the University of Leicester car park next door to Attenborough Arts Centre on Lancaster Road. The closest public car park for parking at all other times is Victoria Park\, 5-10 minutes walk from us.
