An Introduction to Reading, Making and Thinking about Poetry

6 weekly sessions starting on Thursday 8 June 2023.

Course Description:

This practical and discussion based course will use poetry from the 20th & 21st century to inspire your own writing and develop your skills in close and careful reading of contemporary poetry.

Each session you will discuss two poems, analyse the techniques used and then develop your own writing using these poems as a starting prompt. No previous knowledge of reading or writing poetry is required, although the course would also be of interest to students wishing to further develop their own poetic voices. There will be ample opportunities for students to share their work in a safe and supportive environment.
