Encounter Social Tango

Description
Course Description:
Something special for you and a friend or partner! Whether you are new to tango, feeling a little rusty, or simply tango-curious here you will encounter the absolute essentials of this popular social dance form. Join in today to learn how to improvise with tango movements, social conventions within the dance, and etiquette that comes with it – and of course the incredible music.
Social tango teaches us to communicate with each other through the movement of our bodies together, interpreting the music. Rather than using set routines or choreography, social tango is improvised in real time which offers us the opportunity to develop good understandings of our own bodies, the embrace we share with a partner, the character of the music and the space we share with the other dancers.
This session gives time to these essential elements: understanding our own bodies, posture, balance and articulation, the conventions of dancing socially, the character of the music and the possibilities of interpretation. Your instructor Steph Knowles focuses on the essential, unique and timeless aspects of this 'Intangible Cultural Heritage'. You don’t want to miss out on this incredible experience.
