Course Description:

A fun and informative course suitable for beginners and improvers. Over the four days, you will learn a range of practical metal working and jewellery making skills and techniques which will enable you to create your own unique pieces of jewellery.

Your tutor Kate will introduce you to key handmaking techniques including soldering, filing, hammering, piercing and drilling both silver and copper, alongside more advanced techniques such as reticulation and cabochon stone setting. She is on hand to help developing jewellers enhance their skills and welcomes students coming with their own project ideas. There will be group demonstrations and one to one help, offering you the opportunity to focus on creating your own unique pieces of jewellery.

This course teaches practical metalsmithing techniques and requires a good level of concentration, dexterity and ability to carry out close small-scale work.

Course Tutor:

Kate Bajic has been a studio jeweller for over 17 years, having sold and exhibited her work nationally and internationally. After attending an informal silver jewellery workshop, her life changed when she worked with metal for the first time, leading her to complete an Art Foundation Course, then a Bachelor of Arts in silversmithing and jewellery, topping them off with a Masters as well. She is not only well educated in the topic, but passionate about every aspect of it as well.
