Portraits in Print
Create your own unique portrait by print, by exploring the work of the German expressionists, developing your lino making skills and learning the process of printing with ink.
Through the one-day sessions, you will be introduced to dramatic lighting, exploring the importance of chiaroscuro, as well as experimenting with line quality and utilising it to create contours. With Johanna, you will explore the importance of mark making within work and how to transfer designs onto lino effectively, including how to revere your image and use the reduction technique. At the end of the workshop, you will have gained confidence in the lino printing process and produce a unique series of printed portraits to take home.
This workshop is led by Johanna Shearer, previously a teacher of the arts in local schools, she has taught at Attenborough Arts Centre for over 4 years including the popular Adventures in Art course, and is an avid printmaker with a huge passion for crafts, collage and colour.
