Portraiture is an old form of art, which aims to capture the essence of the person they are painting, showing them as who they are or who they want to be. Come develop your painting skills in this area within a support and exciting workshop.
Through a whole series of drawing exercises we will explore a wide variety of methods of truly seeing and drawing portraiture. Within the session tutor, Scott, will lead you in understanding traditional methods as well as adopting and incorporating contemporary approaches to the portrait. You will be shown and have demonstrated a step by step method of drawing the portrait, with, after lunch, moving on to colour and eventually painting a final piece.
Scott Bridgwood developed his specialisation in painting the figure in his BA in Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art. He worked in Rome for eight years as a mural and portrait artist and taught at the British Cultural Institute in Rome and is now a full-time professional artist and undertakes portrait commissions and divides his time between studios in Leicester and Cheshire.
