Traditional Italic Calligraphy with Pen & Ink

Description
Course Description:
Learn to write beautiful Italic script using traditional materials such as dip pens, square edge nib and ink, to explore elegant calligraphy from the Sixteenth Century – the writing of Michelangelo, Elizabeth 1 and many wonderful manuscripts from the Renaissance.
In this one day workshop, you will develop a twentieth century style of Italic that can be made your own to use throughout personal messages, names or greetings. Although based on the Renaissance scripts and early typefaces, it is a versatile letterform that lends itself to modern writing. You will be given hand-outs from which to copy the alphabet, to get you started if you have never written with a dip pen before. Perfect way to end summer with a new skill!
