Watercolour Landscapes - Near and Far
This summer learn to make expressive watercolour paintings using a variety of styles and approaches, inspired by a variety of environments from intimate gardens to wild landscapes.
Each week the tutor, Pete Clayton, will demonstrate and illustrate various approaches to making expressive paintings for you to explore using photographic references, memories and imagination as starting points. Materials and photographic sources will be supplied, however you are encouraged to bring your own reference materials and experiences to make the work more personal.
Artists of note to explore:
Angie Lewin, Mark Hearld, Leslie Birch, Ann Blockley, John Singer Sargent, Paul Klee, John Piper, Emily Sutton, Miranda Brookes, Sesshu Toyo, Samuel Palmer
Brought up in rural Lancashire, Peter moved to Leicester in the 1980’s to teach art in a number of arts centres and colleges across the city. An active member of the arts cultural sector, he is a member of Leicester Print Workshop and Leicester Society of Artists, exhibiting his paintings and prints regularly across galleries in the UK.
