This one-day workshop will teach you the basics of weaving on a simple loom with materials that are usually thrown-away, such as plastics, packaging, old phone cables and baler twine. Making items like a small bag, decorative wall hanging, table mats or small book cover, the emphasis is on enjoying working with unusual materials to make unique work.

The day starts with seeing many examples of ‘weaving with waste’, followed by learning how to put a warp on a simple frame loom as well as weaving with a shuttle and pick-up sticks. Towards the end of the day you will finish off your piece with a variety colourful materials. An inspiring course that teaches a craft form that has been used for centuries, with modern materials that highlight our need to be more environmentally considerate in our daily lives.
