Students: Discover Your University Arts Centre
It’s the start of a brand-new year and that means we are welcoming back students for another term of fun, learning and creativity.
Attenborough Arts Centre is your arts and culture hub at the University of Leicester, providing flexible spaces that offer curated events like theatre and shows from top performers, exhibitions exploring diverse topics, creative workshops in art studios, and opportunities for career growth.
Founded by Richard Attenborough, who you may remember as John Hammond in Jurassic Park (1993), we are located on Lancaster Road opposite the George Davis Centre and are open 7 days a week, free for all to enter. As well as working with artists and local communities, we also create work with and for students at the University of Leicester. Whether you’re looking to see art, make art, or just sit down with a coffee and chat with a friend, we have something for you. We’ve put together a useful list below of some of the things you can get up to as a student when you visit us.
Study & Social Spaces
We have plenty of quiet spaces study such as our café, our balcony, Studio 2 or the Salmon Gallery. They are perfect to come alone or with your friends to relax and study in a new environment.
Art Galleries
We curate four art gallery spaces showcasing the work of leading contemporary visual artists, free of charge and open daily. It is the perfect place to get inspired, experience something new and make new friends.
Attenborough Shop
Our shop offers a big range of ever-changing crafts, jewellery, books, homeware, gifts, stationery, art materials, cards and more. We also stock lots of seasonal goodies and exhibition merchandise at different times of the year.
Attenborough Cafe
Our café offers a relaxed seating area in which to enjoy a range of drinks, hot and cold bites to eat, cakes and snacks. Open Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm. Weekends and evenings have flexible opening hours.
Practice Room Bookings
Are you a seasoned musician? Or, perhaps it’s your first time playing an instrument? We manage bookings for three of the music practice rooms based on the main University campus. To learn more and to book rooms, please contact our team through our email arts-centre@le.ac.uk
