Our Mission

Attenborough Arts Centre believes that art should be universally accessible for all. Across all our initiatives we champion a culture of inclusivity and creativity. Our mission is to serve as Leicester’s centre for contemporary art, a beacon of excellence for inclusive culture, and a dynamic community hub which integrates culture with Higher Education.

Our Funding

We are grateful for funding from the University of Leicester, which covers core staffing and building costs. We are also one of Arts Council England’s 990 National Portfolio Organisations (2023-26) – vital public funding which supports our core exhibitions, performances, learning, community, and artist development programmes. Commercial activities, including our shop, venue hire, and ticket sales for Creative Courses and performances also generate income, with the remaining vital contributions, sourced from donations, gifts, external grants, and company sponsorships.

How your vital support can help us to continue our important work

As a registered charity and not-for-profit organisation, every penny we receive is invested in cultivating high quality, inclusive artistic and educational programmes.

Donors’ support and contributions play a crucial role in sustaining the centre’s mission and impact.

Donate

Every donation, gift, and bequest enable our artistic vision to flourish. With bold aspirations to expand our pioneering artistic, educational, and community initiatives, we aim to extend the reach of our impact across Leicester, the Midlands, and beyond, enriching the lives of countless individuals.
