Print Journey: A Wonderful Encounter between Art and Nature

In this fast-paced, digitised age, it is a precious experience to quieten the mind and feel the pulsations of nature and create beautiful works of art through your hands.

The upcoming 5-week Print Journey Course, starting on 30 September, is tailor-made for those who are eager to relax and inspire their creativity. Here, you’ll follow experienced tutor Natasha Deighton as she explores a wide range of innovative printing techniques, starting with the simplest of objects and progressing to mastering intricate designs and nature-inspired print effects.

What can you expect?

What makes this course unique is its diverse range of printing processes. These processes are not only creative but also full of nature.

Eco-printing is one such amazing process that transfers nature’s forms and textures perfectly into your work using natural materials such as leaves, petals and herbs. The process is not only eco-friendly, but also full of surprises and creativity. During the course, you will learn how to select and combine these natural materials to create relief prints with 3D effects.

If you are interested in the changes in light and colour, cyanotype prints will bring you unlimited visual enjoyment. Originating in the 19th century, this technique is an ancient photographic technique that creates unique cyanotype images through sunlight and chemical reactions. The whole process is like a visual magic, when the sunlight hits the treated paper, the deep blue image will magically emerge stunningly. During the course you will learn how to prepare and handle the materials for cyanotype prints, from choosing the right substrate to mixing the chemicals, every step is fun to explore. You will also experiment using different objects as stencils, such as leaves and flowers, incorporating their forms and textures into your work.

Plus, other crafts are just as fun. Fruit and veg prints allow you to create your own beautiful tea towel by cutting and embossing a variety of fruits and vegetables. Foam printing uses a special foam material to create a lightweight and 3D print.
