Five fab weeks of macrame makes for you to keep or gift!
During this fun and informal five-week Tuesday evening course, learn what you can do with just a few basic knots and some cotton cord and take home a finished item each week! It really is amazing! Suitable for absolute beginners and those with a little experience of macrame or similar craft.
Week 1: Macrame coasters
Use square knots to create heart shaped coasters. Wow your guests with your creative talents!
Week 2: Macrame Jewellery
Bonita will guide you through the process of creating joyful jewellery. In this workshop you will create a necklace, a bracelet or two and a pair of knotted earrings. Perfect to gift!
Week 3: Macrame bunting
Create your very own macrame bunting, perfect for any home or special occasion.
Week 4: Plant hanger
The perfect boho accessory for any home or office.
Week 5: Star decoration
Create a striking star decoration for your home or to gift.
Tutor Bonita Keay is a passionate crafter and always says making is part of who she is! She started her handmade business journey in 2007 when her children were small and now sells regularly at craft fairs (including our Attenborough Arts Centre fairs!). Bonita is also an experienced tutor, sharing her knowledge, skills and passion with adults and young people, inspiring creativity and wellbeing wherever she goes. She sources all materials ethically and sustainably, supporting other small businesses where possible.
All materials will be provided.
Each 3-hour workshop will start at 5:30pm and end at 8:30pm. The five-week course starts on 25 February and ends on 25 March 2025.
Participants must be aged 14+. Under 18s must be accompanied by a paying adult at all times.

We aim to make all our sessions as accessible as possible and carers/PAs are very welcome – just remember to book their free place when you book your session. We have four blue badge parking spaces outside Attenborough Arts Centre, plus double yellow line roadside parking very close to the building for blue badge holders for up to three hours if our parking spaces are occupied.
Free parking for all customers is available after 5pm on weekdays and all day at weekends in the University of Leicester car park next door to Attenborough Arts Centre on Lancaster Road.
The closest public car park for parking at all other times is Victoria Park, 5-10 minutes walk from us (near De Montfort Hall).
