In memory of Dr. Judith Tucker (1960 – 2023)

We are saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Judith Tucker, co-curator of our current exhibition ‘Arcadia for All? Rethinking Landscape Painting Now’ which features her renowned work ‘Night Fitties: we came for Barnsley feast week’, 2023.

Judith was an artist, educator, academic, and a passionate advocate of painting. She recently took on the role of Chair of Contemporary British Painting and directed research at The University of Leeds. Her work explored landscape, place and memory, and went beyond a single aesthetic or scale.

Judith leaves behind an incredible legacy through her work and the relationships she built. Our deepest condolences go out to her friends and family at this time.
