Have you visited our Salmon Gallery to see ‘A Decade of Exhibitions’? An interactive exhibition made from archival materials and your own contributions, this show looks back at the last 10 years of exhibitions in our galleries and what it means to our communities.

Since opening, we have presented more than 65 exhibitions featuring over 300 artists. Our programme has explored themes including disability and activism, environmental change, identity, mental health, and youth creativity, reflecting and responding to the social and cultural conversations of our time. Ranging from major solo presentations to experimental group exhibitions, the programme has encompassed painting, sculpture, installation, performance, sound, and digital practice. Throughout, the galleries have been spaces for dialogue, risk-taking, and discovery.

This exhibition brings together archival material and visitor comments collected over the last 10 years of the exhibition programme. It also features photography from the inaugural exhibition, Art, Life, Activism (18 November 2015 – 17 January 2016), and the official opening by Sir David Attenborough on 29 January 2016, coinciding with Lucy + Jorge Orta: Absent Wildlife (30 January – 24 April 2016).

To mark this milestone, we have created a book ‘Decade of Exhibitions’ capturing every exhibition from the past 10 years with stunning photographs and insightful text. Available now in our shop and to view online by clicking here.

Attenborough Arts Centre’s mission of ‘Art for All’ means that we provide platforms to artists to express themselves, present their ideas and tell their stories, particularly prioritising those who have been historically underrepresented in the art world and cultural sector.

And you can get involved too! The show features a miniature of Gallery 1 with a range of items to curate your own exhibition, a comment wall to share your own opinions about your favourite exhibition, what art means to you, or something new altogether, and art materials available to make your own artworks and the display them on our framed gallery wall. Our decade of exhibitions could not have happened without you, so get involved and share your own creativity.

This exhibition and our dedicated book celebrate the many people who have shaped Attenborough Arts Centre over the past ten years. We thank the artists who have shared their work and ideas, the curators, technicians and staff whose expertise has brought each exhibition into being, and our volunteers and gallery teams who welcome and support visitors every day. We are deeply grateful to our partners, funders and supporters, whose continued investment enables our mission of Art for All. We thank our audiences, whose curiosity and engagement have brought these galleries to life and made this decade of exhibition-making possible. Open until 3 May 2026, come explore today!
