After-hours art experience with Attenborough Late

2nd June 2026

A torn yellow paper saying 'Attenborough Late Late Late' laying on top of a sound board.

Join us for the return of Attenborough Late, a fun-packed after-hours art experience the takes over our whole building.

Explore the galleries, get creative in hands-on sessions, experience live performances throughout the building, and soak up the buzz of a building that doesn’t sleep early.

This summer evening our galleries and café will be buzzing with music, dance, performances and craft workshops, with a range of refreshments available for purchase.

This includes DJ sets, up-and-coming performances, creative workshops, an outdoor BBQ and after-hours explorations of our interactive exhibition ‘Jason and the Adventure of 254’.

Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, this is your chance to experience Attenborough Arts Centre like never before.

Current Line-Up:

Jason and the Adventure of 254 in Gallery 1 & 2 – Through a kaleidoscope of colours and a touch of magic realism, the exhibition is a celebration of family, Jason’s working-class background and the opportunities he received through hospital education, inviting audiences to explore childhood memories and creativity through the artist’s trademark humour.

Attenborough BBQ – Burgers, hotdogs, fries, and homemade sauces galore! Expect an outdoor BBQ feast outside of our centre that will make summer memories. Food expertly prepared and cooked by Edith James Catering, who also run our incredible café.

DJ Sets by Shindig DJs – In the mid-2010s, Chris was tired of hearing the usual rubbish music at parties and in bars and pubs. So, he did something about it: he bought some decks, raided his record collection and begged venues to book him. To his surprise, they did. And people kept coming up to him, saying they’d not heard that tune for years/OMG a Stone Roses b-side/why aren’t you playing Mr Brightside? Records only.

Gelli Printing Workshop – Try your hand at gelli printing with artist and printmaker Carol Pairaudeau. Carol will guide you through the basics of this technique using soft silicone plates to create beautiful prints without a press.

3D Diorama Scene Workshop – Inspired by our current exhibition, create your own autobiographical scene with a focus on fun to construct a 3D diorama scene of your choice! We supply the materials and you bring your own imagination.

Islamic Geometry Workshop – A practical introduction to Islamic geometry using ruler, compass and watercolour to create a unique piece to take home. Tutor Safira Ali is a visual artist and calligrapher based in Leicestershire.

Lindsey Warnes: ‘Lido – A Love Story’ – Take a deep dive into the wonderful world of lidos in this 20 minute work in progress excerpt from a new theatre show written and performed by award-winning comedian Lindsey Warnes. The show celebrates the people, communities and history that make lidos special.

Natalie Bellingham: ‘Marie Chou-Fleur’ – Marie is a sexy, stupid, hopeful dollop of absurd wisdom. A playful celebration of humanity, stupidity and being unapologetically ourselves. Natalie Bellingham is a theatre-maker, performer and physical comedian, making bold, tender work that sits somewhere between clowning, storytelling and theatre.

Anthony Ekundayo Lennon: ‘Sweet Memories’ – Before memory had language, before the world had names for things, there was a game: ‘Hide N’ Quiet’. Sweet Memories is one aspect of the development of MISTAKEN IDENTITY, Anthony’s autobiographical play in collaboration with rising playwright Alfie Neill (SLUMLORD).

Attenborough Late will be held on Friday 19 June 2026, 6pm – 10pm, pay what you can tickets.
