We were delighted to be a part of the University of Leicester’s Community Festival at the Botanic Garden on Sunday 6 September.

More than 900 visitors took part in the festival which included outdoor games, performances from Wigston Brass Band, Oh My Dhol and Contrast Steel Band, fascinating talks from speakers such as Great British Bake Off 2023 finalist Dr Josh Smalleyand, and free arts and crafts workshops. Throughout the day community members joined us to paint pebbles and create garden wreaths, with each participants creating something unique to themselves.

President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Nishan Canagarajah said: 

“The Community Festival at the Botanic Garden is one of the key elements of our public engagement work. I am delighted that this year’s event was so well attended and well organised.

“It was a fantastic day that reinforced the University’s important links with our local community. I would like to thank all the staff who worked so hard to prepare the event and ensure its smooth running on the day.”
