After-hours art experience with Attenborough Late

8th October 2026

Join us for the return of Attenborough Late, a fun-packed after-hours art experience the takes over our whole building.

Explore the galleries, get creative in hands-on sessions, experience live performances throughout the building, and soak up the buzz of a building that doesn’t sleep early.

This autumn evening our galleries and café will be buzzing with music, dance, performances and craft workshops, with a range of refreshments available for purchase.

This includes DJ sets, up-and-coming performances, creative workshops, an outdoor BBQ and after-hours explorations of our new exhibition ‘I Dream From Where You Are’ by Jemisha Maadhavji.

Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, this is your chance to experience Attenborough Arts Centre like never before.

Current Line-Up:

Jemisha Maadhavji: I Dream From Where You Are in Gallery 2 – Bringing together painting and sculpture, the exhibition explores portraiture and identity, reflecting upon the artist’s concept of luxury as a deep connection to nature.

Attenborough Samosas – The best get-up and go food around: the samosa. Expect a range of flavours, expertly prepared and cooked by Edith James Catering, who also run our incredible café.

DJ Sets by The Hoo Ha Record Club – A record club where each DJ can only mix with physical media. Expect a range of records, CD’s, cassettes and who knows what else. A collective who has been raising money for local mental health charities since 2017.

Block Printing Tote Bags – Take inspiration from the wonderful patterns in Jemisha’s paintings and join creative courses tutor Safira to design and block print your own tote bag to take home. All materials provided.

Upcycled Floral Brooch Workshop – Join Nayaab Mahomed and Tazim Hamid from The Woven Collective for a hands-on upcycled floral brooch workshop, inspired by Jamisha Maadvaji’s exhibition and the vibrant colours and floral motifs within her work. Using a colourful selection of upcycled Indian textiles, embroidery threads, beads and embellishments, you’ll create your own floral brooch and experiment with layering, stitching and embellishment.

Take a Seat, Become the Sitter – Dress up in garments inspired by Jemisha Maadhavji’s exhibition ‘I Dream from Where you Are’, and have your instant photography portrait taken! Dwell a little longer and draw flowers from life in our beautiful sensory gallery.

Jess Green’s Poetry Group – This brilliant group of poets have been meeting to write and share their work for nearly 14 years under the tutelage of BBC Slam Champion, Jess Green. Hosted by Jess, this is a rare opportunity to hear their poems outside of the four walls of Studio 3! Expect humour, poignance, absurdity and belly laughs as these writers share their unique takes on the world.

Performance: AFTERMATH – A provocative, innovative and generationally poignant new play. Live scenes are intercut with projected news footage, TikTok-style reels and online commentary, exposing how private pain becomes public spectacle and how quickly narratives are distorted once a life is reduced to clicks and headlines. Raw, provocative and emotionally charged, the play asks who gets to control the story after someone dies and what it costs the people left behind.

Performance: Nemesis: A Post-#MeToo Reckoning – An interdisciplinary performance project that combines live art, experimental film and digital participation to explore collective responses to gendered violence and injustice. This performance asks what forms of justice might become possible when gossip, collective memory and shared anger are treated as forms of knowledge rather than something to be hidden away.

Studio Sale in Gallery 1 – Ahead of our refurbishment starting in November, we are clearing our centre to make way for our upgraded facilities. To create more space, we are selling a range of items such as well-loved arts books, studio furniture, art equipment and tools, and more. Everything will be priced to sell so don’t miss this opportunity to grab a bargain and a piece of Attenborough Arts Centre history.

Attenborough Late will be held on Friday 16 October 2026, 6pm – 10pm, pay what you can tickets.
