Our team have been working hard to prepare for the upcoming refurbishments, working with external teams, our community groups and all of our stakeholders. From November 2026 the work will commence, with half the building shut to the public. However, to help us fully prepare our building we will be completely closed for a week and only available to staff.
This closure will take from Monday 2 November to Sunday 8 November inclusive, with all the building shut to the public. From Monday 8 November, we will reopen from the gallery side of the building. Here we’ll be running a wide range of exhibitions, performances, creative courses and workshops, learning and community programmes including Soundbites, Saturday Art Club and Sunday Sessions. Our programming will continue over the refurbishment period into the new year, and we will fully reopen in time for our 30th birthday in May 2027.
We are very grateful to have secured a major Creative Foundations Fund grant from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Arts Council England to undertake a £1million refurbishment of our building.
Thank you in advance for bearing with us during the refurbishment period – this is an exciting time and we look forward to welcoming you to our new and improved building in a few short months.
