Little Inventors Project selected as a finalist for the Falling Walls Science Breakthroughs of the Year 2021
The Little Inventors In Space project, being facilitated by The Attenborough Arts Centre’s Bob Christer, has been nominated for the prestigious Falling Walls Science Breakthroughs of the Year award, for the work of promoting science engagement within schools around Leicester and Leicestershire. Falling Walls Engage is the global platform for Science Engagement, hosted by the Falling Walls Foundation in cooperation with the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Their mission is to inspire and connect creative individuals and organisations who actively involve the public with science to generate mutual benefits for science and society all around the world.
Bob Christer, SENsory Atelier Programme Manager said “I nominated the project as it engages young people in SEND settings in science education, setting them up to create hypotheses on how to help an astronaut on board the international space station, developing their ideas into inventions, and then collaborating with engineers, artists and makers to bring their ideas to life.
We’re one of 50 finalists (out of 139 entries globally) info on their website here (Click on the click here to discover the finalists longlist bar to find us – No.27 – listed as me, because I have a huge ego… or just because that’s how their system works despite me stressing it was a big partnership project…you decide)
Next, we’ll find out if we’re one of 20 ‘winners’ announced in mid august and invited to Berlin in November. There we could be announced the Science Breakthrough of the year for education engagement. It could bring with it more opportunities to develop and scale up the project to others.”
