Public and Community Engagement

Attenborough Arts Centre works together with a range of partners at the University of Leicester to engage 250,000 people annually through its engagement programmes for the public, communities and schools. We make a key contribution to the University’s Knowledge Exchange Framework programme of work.

University of Leicester Botanic Garden

We deliver an annual summer events programme in partnership with the University of Leicester Botanic Garden, College of Life Sciences, Friends of the Botanic Garden and Oadby & Wigston Borough Council.

Literary Leicester

We host Literary Leicester, the University’s annual free public literature festival.

University Art Collection

Attenborough Arts Centre manages the University of Leicester Art Collection of over 200 items featuring works and prints by leading artists including Picasso, Henry Moore, Joan Miro and Eduardo Paolozzi and Leicester artists including Loz Atkinson and Vishal Joshi. We display works around campus and are working towards national accreditation to increase access to and awareness of the Collection for everyone, including students, staff and the public.

University of Leicester Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team

We work with the University’s EDI Team to programme events and initiatives for a range of cultural events and faith festivals throughout the year. These include Diwali, Black History Month, International Women’s Day and the International Day of Disabled Persons.

CITE & Sanctuary programme

We work in partnership with the Centre for International Teaching and Engagement (CITE)’s University of Sanctuary programme to provide cultural programmes for refugees and migrants to the city and University of Leicester.
