Plant pots holding green plants covered in colourful mosaics.

Online booking will be available on Monday 2 March.

A summer-inspired introduction to mosaics.

This five-week summer mosaic course introduces beginners to the fundamentals of mosaic-making, with a strong emphasis on developing cutting confidence and control, culminating in a unique weatherproof outdoor mosaic plant pot.

Each week builds progressively, moving from simple cuts to more intentional shaping, while exploring bright, seasonal themes such as sunshine, sea life, gardens, and flowers.

Participants will complete skill-building exercises and small sample pieces in the early weeks, and finish the course with a confidently cut, assembled, and grouted outdoor mosaic pot suitable for garden or patio use.

By the end of the five weeks, you will be able to:

  • Use mosaic tools safely and confidently, with particular emphasis on tile nippers
  • Demonstrate increasing control over straight, curved, and small precision cuts
  • Understand how tile shape and direction affect visual movement
  • Design simple mosaic compositions inspired by summer themes
  • Adapt cutting and placement techniques for curved surfaces such as plant pots
  • Select and use appropriate exterior-grade materials for outdoor mosaics
  • Apply adhesive, grout, and sealer correctly for durability and weather resistance
  • Complete a finished outdoor mosaic plant pot suitable for garden or patio use
  • Develop confidence to continue mosaic work independently after the course.
