Saturday Gallery Art Club is your opportunity to get creative, explore art hands-on, and take inspiration from our latest exhibitions to create your own work. This session has been designed by one of our gallery assistant facilitators to explore a unique area of work.

Open to everyone, each session is supported by our friendly Learning Team as they hold the space for you to work independently or with your friends and family.

With all materials provided, you get the opportunity to create in whatever medium you find most interesting or exciting. This includes paints, clay, drawing materials, printmaking, collage, and more. Either take up something you already enjoy or try something completely new!

Every session is free with booking required, however drop-ins are welcome. There is no pressure to attend every week or all of the sessions, just join in whenever you want to.

Saturday Gallery Art Club is located in our Salmon Gallery. An accessible space curated by our Learning Team, the gallery is inspired by our exhibitions and features free art materials, interactive sensory objects, and a library of available books for a range of ages. The space also includes aircon, a heating system, and a variety of seating options and height-adjustable tables.

Note: Adults must stay with their children at all times.

Exploring Rasa using Thread and Colour

Join us for a relaxed, drop-in workshop in connection with ‘Material Worlds: Contemporary Artists and Textiles‘.

Across many artistic traditions, colour, gesture and texture are used to evoke emotion. Inspired by the idea of rasa – the emotional “flavour” of art, participants are invited to explore rasa as they create a thread-based composition, letting it guide their line and colour choices.

Experiment with wrapping, looping, knotting, placing line and colour to express rhythm, gesture, and feeling in a way that reflects your chosen rasa. Suitable for all ages and abilities. All materials provided.
