This event is part of The Spark Festival 2026

Join our friendly learning team in the sensory Salmon Gallery to get creative with a choice of arts and crafts in response to our major exhibition: ‘Material Worlds: Contemporary Artists and Textiles’ from Southbank Centre and Hayward Gallery Touring.

Create your own wearable art from our recycled fabrics from around the world, or discover how to weave or crochet, or just draw what you see in the gallery. These relaxed and welcoming sessions are designed to give you choice and new ways to respond to the exhibition.

No need to have previous experience, join us to play, get creative, and learn something new – all materials provided. Open to everyone, this session is supported by our friendly Learning Team as they hold the space for you to work independently, or with your friends and family, and take your creations home with you.

Each session will be based in our Attenborough Café and the Salmon Gallery, and are free for everyone. Our regular Sunday Sessions are set up with crafting materials, boardgames and dress-up materials. Enjoy our café which will be open and selling a range of sandwiches, wraps, soup and baked potatoes and a range of drinks, snacks and cakes.

You can also visit our free exhibitions in our art galleries and spend time in our sunny courtyard garden.

Our Sunday Sessions are part of our ongoing commitment to making art accessible to all. Our Learning team are working hard to expand our public programmes, providing open spaces for communities to come together in welcoming and inspiring environments.

Every session is free for all, with no booking required. Drop-in between 1pm and 3pm.
