WORD! own Abi is turning 25 – and we’re all invited to her party! Join us and the birthday girl as she hosts an extra sparkly open mic takeover. She wants to hear poetry comedy, spoken word, and at least one person singing happy birthday.

Join us for poetry, community, and maybe even cake. Abi Willock is a poet, workshop facilitator and member of the WORD! Team, based in the East Midlands. She enjoys all kinds of poetry, but her favourite poet is Carol Ann Duffy.

Abi has been published in Pulse Magazine, Writing East Midland’s ‘A Question of Hope’, The Quasar Anthology and most recently Adoption East Midland’s ‘The Book of Belonging’, as well as self-publishing a poetry pamphlet; ‘House, Home, Adventure’. Abi is passionate about mental health, and as well as working as a community advocate, she coordinates ‘Words for Good’ which is a small business bringing creative writing workshops to writers not just as forms of practice but as tools for wellbeing.

Abi firmly believes that sharing poetry is one of the best ways to communities together. The other is birthdays.

What are ‘Pay What You Can’ tickets?

We believe that that arts should be accessible for all. For this reason some of our shows and events this year will be ‘Pay What You Can’, meaning that you decide how much you can or want to pay. This expands access to the arts for those who may not have been able to participate otherwise, or gives others the chance to support those who cannot by paying a bit extra.

You will see multiple prices available for each show or event. You can select whichever price you can afford or would like to pay – thank you.
