The Art of Being Present: Why We Love Life Drawing

25th August 2026

Here at Attenborough Arts, we love life drawing, and so do many of our creative learners.

It’s an important form of drawing, training your eye to translate three-dimensional forms onto a flat surface, and teaching you vital skills in proportion, volume, gesture and light. Observing a live subject can strengthen your spatial reasoning and deepen your personal perspective and helps you build a strong visual library to improve all forms of drawing and painting.

But it can also have more personal benefits, such as building empathy and self-awareness by studying another human form, promoting positive body image or simply provide a quiet, mindful break from screens and the stress of everyday life.

All our classes are taught by expert tutor and established artist Scott Bridgwood, and we work with a team of professional models who offer a range of body types and pose styles so no two sessions are ever the same.

Whoever you life draw, or would like to start life drawing, we have a range of weekly courses and one-day workshops for all levels of experience throughout the year.
