Get Ready for Spring 2022 at the AAC

With 2021 looking at us in the rear-view mirror, its time to herald in 2022! Last year was difficult in so many ways but we made it through – hopefully – stronger than ever. Looking forward into the future, we are so excited to tell you all we have planned for Spring 2022 that is sure to tickle your fancy.

If the visual arts are your bread and butter, we have two incredible exhibitions lined up for this January: Undiscovered Island and Loz Atkinson: The Edge of Forever. The first presents a playful imaginary space through beautifully crafted interactive installations that will transport you to an underwater world. Uniquely fashioned corals exist inside and around two domes that are interwoven with sensing technology for a truly engaging experience starting from the 30th January. The Edge of Forever brings together key works from Loz’s ‘Imagined Nebula’ series, which was started in 2015 to explore the relationship that we humans have with our universe. Come experience something beyond yourself from the 22nd January.

More interested in experiencing the thrill of live theatre? Perfect – we have an incredible range of shows just for you from the Spark Arts Festival and the Leicester Comedy Festival. Coming to us in the Spring are some incredible acts such as Leicester Jazz House’s Peter Edwards performing Solo Piano on the 21st January. Or how about Helen Duff is the Tits on the 18th February, a wildly funny show that will leave you wanting more. But you must check out Edy Hurst’s comedy version of Jeff Wayne’s musical version of War of the Worlds – a mouth-full of a title but it will be something you have never seen  before on at the 19th February.

In the mood to be creative yourself? We have an incredible range of courses and workshops lined up to suit any endeavour you are after. From an introduction to tapestry weaving, to a course on how to be a spoken word poet, and even an alcohol ink masterclass. We have everything and more ready for you this Spring, and we are so excited to introduce a new range of creative tutors who bring their years of expertise and passion to the courses themselves.

In this new year we all deserve a laugh, some joy, and a great community to come back to again and again. So, check out all that we have in store for Spring 2022 on our What’s On page and we hope to see you soon.
