Echoes – An ode through sarode
Join us for an evening of Indian classical music as maestro sarode player, Prattyush Banerjee, pays homage to Aftäb-e-Sitar, Ustad Vilayat Khan.
Featuring Rajvir Singh on tabla.
Vilayat Khan (1928-2004) was a child prodigy to whom goes the credit of taking the sitar beyond the shores of India. He was a contemporary of Pandit Ravi Shankar, but developed the distinctly different Gayaki style of performance, and reconfigured the instrument accordingly. He hails from a distinguished musical family with roots in the Mughal era.
